Summer Nature Retreat

A three day escape to work your body and balance your mind. Switch off your phone, bathe in the lakes, bike through the forest or just enjoy some mindfulness and an afternoon in our Nordic Spa.

All of our food is organic and either foraged, picked in the garden, shot on the grounds or sourced from a nearby farm.

Day 1

Arrive in the afternoon to refreshing drinks under the elm tree looking out over the forest and fields where the horses roam.  Enjoy a 3 course meal focused on foraged produce. Take some time alone to land in nature – Switch off your phone, enjoy the unique summer’s light and the smell of nature in full bloom. Allow yourself to just BE. The silence and your large double bed invite you to a restful nights sleep in the total comfort of our woodland suites.

Day 2

Wake slowly to cold brewed coffee and organic breakfast served on the veranda to your suite. Jump on your bike and cycle through the fields and forest down to the lake to enjoy the reviving properties of Nordic Bathing in the forest lake. After the bathing ritual we enjoy a guided yoga/mindfulness session on the pontoons on the water. A seasonal lunch full of foraged greens and local produce is served up by the shore. Back at Smens the reading benches are set up for an afternoon of rest in the great outdoors. A meal of Swedish seafood and fresh greens from the garden prepares us for restful nights sleep in the great big beds while listening to the birdsong.

Day 3

Opt to sleep in or rise early to take a walk in the morning light. Breakfast is served, homemade, organic granola with foraged berries and eggs from the neighbouring farm. Today is your day. Horse ride on endless forest tracks. Run or hike through the woods. Cycle to one of the many lakes or canoe on secluded waterways, far, far from any tourists. Or simply take a stroll to our little hide away in the forest, get yourself comfortable and read under the canopy of the trees. Today we do lunch out in the wild, sampling the simple delights of Nordic cousine using the freshest ingredients. Spend the afternoon being pampered by our masseus or soaking in the wood burning hot tub. Perhaps challenge yourself to a dip in the ice tub in between sauna sessions.  A light plant based meal with ingredients from the garden leaves you balanced and sets you up for a great nights sleep.

Day 4

Start slowly with breakfast at your suite looking out over the landscape. Put on your hiking shoes and take to the woods. Walk in silence for the best chance to spot elk, deer and wild boar. Breath, enjoy the silence and the smells of the woods. Return back for a refreshing drink in the shade and leave Smens rested, balanced and entirely wowed by the beauty and vastness of the Swedish summer landscape.
